An exploration into unknown waters is something that I’ve learned to brave. When I recall memories of my childhood, I narrowly remember an experience that I thought would hold me back for the rest of my life. Having almost drowned as a child, I grew up being overly cautious of deeper waters. ????
This unpleasant emotion once felt, triggering that sense of danger and discomfort, now arising like an intense panic around being around swimming pools, rivers, and trips to the beach. But all my cumulated fear rippled away the moment I went on my first scuba diving expedition. I didn’t flutter, I didn’t hesitate, I simply dived right in! ????
I'm a great fan of Sir David Attenborough and have always been fascinated by the BBC Earth Blue Planet series. There’s something mysterious and wholesome about the deep sea, and for some unexplainable reason, I was drawn to exploring this underwater world myself. So, when I was in Indonesia, I was offered the experience with "safety in mind” to explore all the wonder and mystery that lies beneath the deep blue. ????
Trawangan Dive thoroughly took me through the safety procedures, and once we were out on the open waters practicing my breathing, I was trying to contain my excitement at the same time. ????
As I went descended further into the sea, meter by meter, steadily easing the pressure of my ears, I could hear my heartbeat and feel my body defining gravity.
I felt a deep sense of weightlessness and calm, almost meditative-like, and allowed myself to be submerged within this experience. When I began to swim and explore, encapsulated by these unknown waters, I discovered an abundance of marine life. ????
Overlooking the majestic wonder from the seabed and all around me, I felt my peaceful exterior harbouring internal excitement and sheer marvel. It was truly a magical experience, one which I would happily relive again. I would have loved to have stayed much longer in the aquatic paradise, looking upon all its wonder. ????
