There’s blessings every step of the way …

Strolling along the mountain trail of a thousand vermilion red Torii gates, (伏見稲荷大社) Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto is the leading shrine dedicated to the Shinto god Inari. Being one of over 30,000 shrines located across Japan, protected by multiple fox statues know as kitsune and are regarded as their messengers.

There are many different routes and can take around 2-3 hours walk, so if you’re feeling fit .. it’s a great wander through nature, whilst checking out the hand carvings on each gate. Some dating back as far as the Edo period (1603 – 1868), donated by people, companies with a wish to be granted or to give thanks for a wish that came reality.
