The Real Sacher-Torte

December 3, 2020

❄️ As soon as its 'tis the season with winter vibes here in the northern hemisphere, the decadent desserts come out in force! ????

❓Do you have a sweet spot for a festive dessert?

Well Vienna is undoubtedly the place to visit, especially in winter as you'll discover there's still plenty see and do within "The Sound of Music" city!

When my travel bestie Meg and I arrived, it was -10'c, and there was snow everywhere. I enjoy seeing the snow, and this was great for me as I needed to stay at a level temperature so my lastest tattoo could heal properly. ????

We were lucky arriving because BA almost suspended the flight due to the plane being frozen to the tarmac. ????

Rambling about the city, we wrapped up warm and paced the streets to explore its many incredible sights, including the Café Central, Sigmund Freud Museum and Miniatur Tirolerland. ????

Café Sacher Wien was our next stop for some afternoon coffee and cake "the Sacher way", and was eager to try the original sacher torte with whipped cream which is a dense cake featuring two layers of chocolate sponge, with apricot jam in the middle and dark chocolate icing all over. ????

It's true, this cake has a cult following, and I can understand why, it's a slice of true choc-heaven! ????

And Sacher Hotels has been kind enough to immerse us into the world of Sacher and on their best-kept secret with this downloadable sweet treat

Location: Café Sacher Wien, Vienna - Reservations via website.
