Snowy Selfie: Remember Hide and Seek?

I have vivid memories of this popular children’s game. I would play around with my childhood friends, and it brought about such joy, hiding, and seeking the undiscovered. Similar to travel, we often explore hidden gems and secret escapes that resonate with us on a deeper level. And pre-pandemic, we’d fearlessly venture out to places, activities, where we’d immerse ourselves in those environments, curate our unique memories and vividly share experiences with others.

So, right now, perhaps we are Seeking to Hide?

The pandemic has quite unexpectedly tipped this impulse for such exploration on its head. Most people are still in lockdown, shielding, finding indoor alternatives to keep them occupied, and others searching for hidden locations that are secure enough for family and close friends of social bubbles to meet and engage in good energy and well-natured banter.

Either way, us curious creatures relentlessly explore, uncover, adapt, and rediscover ourselves and the surroundings not to just survive, but thrive!

Be sure to add an Oxford Winter Wonderland experience to your bucket list – you’ll be sure to encounter an awe-inspiring adventure the will last with you forever!

One Sunday past, I was living proof of the Seek and Hide phenomena. I woke up to white crystals of snow falling outside my window – it was such a beautiful spectacle!

After being locked up in the house and fighting off COVID, I convinced myself that day was going to be the day I would venture into town. It had been quite some time since I had last visited, and having realised this would be the first time heading out since recovering, I felt slight chills of fear and nervousness overcome my body. Although I was heading to a vastly open space – there was a high possibility this infamous location would be packed with crowds and getting those untouched, serine shots would be a significant challenge!

But for this snow-filled day, my one-time exercise a day (via government rules) encouraged me to stay determined to challenge my body, and my mind. Besides, I knew exactly how I would pace myself whilst carrying my COVID survival kit and keeping a vast distance from other humans.

And it was so worth it!

I took my time moving around the park, from the tall trees to the grass and paths entirely blanketed with snow on every corner. Avoiding the mass crowds with ease, taking in this sensory appreciation immersed in nature in all its beauty.

I find it quite funny how I was initially SEEKING TO HIDE, and in the process, ended up taking shots. Inspired by beautiful moments like this, recalling my past experiences of Ski trips, White Christmas and mid-year surprise snowstorms prompting me to develop some presets which I’m proud of making as it’s my very first collection.

And when I finally arrived back home, I felt somewhat tired, but I was incredibly proud of my achievement, although small, but mighty!

This impromptu Oxford Snow day was like no other. After being isolated for so long, this escapade allowed me to be surrounded with crisp, white snow everywhere I looked, delicately descending from the sky and so light to the finger touch. Being transported into a peaceful, yet playful Winter Wonderland, with everything so majestic in sight.

These presets are the first downloadable item I’ve started to design to help people with their creative process. Sharing my creativity in another way as I’m passionate to explore, curate and share my experiences vividly, and if I’m able to touch, move and inspire others along the way, that’s amazing!

Check out what your pictures can do with the Oxford Winter Wonderland Presets, I’d be excited to see your edits!
